Joy & Joe

a wedding and reception at Wyndham’s Bluebeard’s Beach Club, St. Thomas, USVI

Joy may be all Joe’s, but the JOY in planning this wedding was all mine.

Yes, I like puns. The more groan-inducing, the better.

I also like planning weddings and back to this one. Joy and Joe wanted a casual and easy, but for things to still feel like a wedding.

Now, to most brides, “easy” actually means “easy-for-the-bride”. While she sleeps in, enjoys mimosas with the girls and is pampered leading up to the wedding, an army of vendors has been deployed and at it since sunrise, setting up and doing the finishing touches.

ON THE OTHER HAND, WHEN JOY SAID EASY, SHE MEANT IT!

Thank you Megan Biggs for these fantastic photos of the day.

The couple and their guests stayed at the Bluebeard’s Beach Club which is a sleepy timeshare/vacation ownership resort. The beach there is known as Limetree beach, and is one of my favorite beaches for sunset ceremonies.

THE GUYS WORE SANDALS. THE GIRLS – EVEN THE BRIDE – WORE SARONGS!

That’s right! To keep things easy, the dress code was “sandals & sarongs”. Even the bride wore one – a beautiful hand painted sarong with cork wedges.

For decor, we kept things tropical and natural – a cascading orchids bouquet with flowers, coconuts and palm fronds lining the aisle.

We added some conch shells to the mix and also created our own sand ceremony kit by using white nautilus shells.

Between Limetree beach, the sarongs, and the tropical looks, the ceremony was just the look Joy was going for.

Hi Amber,

Thank you for everything. We LOVED our wedding!

– Joy & Joe

To keep things simple and avoid having to drive, or taxi around the island on the wedding day, Joy and Joe decided to have their reception at Bluebeard’s Beach Club.

Right off the beach, the resort has a BBQ area with built in BBQ pit and shelter. All that was needed was some cake, a cooler with Red Stripe beer, and a caterer for a delicious Caribbean buffet. For the reception decorations, we kept the same tropical and beachy theme.

All-in-all, it was pretty fantastic!

Your wedding could be planned by now!
